Intro: Zimmer neo-classics were originally produced by Zimmer Motor Car Company between 1980-1988. When its parent company, which produced fabricated houses went bankrupt, the car-making arm went down with it.
By sheer luck Art Zimmer, who's not related to the company saw a Zimmer and thought "wow a car with my name on it!". First an owner's club was established, then the Zimmer Neo-Classic Motor Car Co in Syracuse, NY in 1997. The first "new" Zimmers were produced in 1999. The Lincoln Town Car based luxury limousine is currently produced in tiny numbers, about 25-30 per annum.
