Lada is a car manufacturer and a trademark of the biggest Russian automaker AvtoVAZ, located on a 600 ha plant in the city of Togliatti with a current capacity of 750,000 vehicles per year. The automaker made its first step in the world auto business when chosen for exports over the domestic Zhiguli brand.
Starting with the 1980s, Lada made its name in Western Europe by selling the Lada Riva in large quantities, the sedan having the distinction of one of the most produced car models in automotive history. The original Lada was built and designed to cope with the extreme climate conditions of Siberia and the poor roads, making huge mileages possible.
