Audi S6 is a step closer to the customer
Chișinău / moldova.ORG/ -- The "Charged" modification of the Audi A6 S sedan was caught by photo-spies during the recent road tests in California, USA.
Judging by the photos, Ingolstadt has no intension to depart from the usual method of creating the S-version.
Audi S6 apparently differs from the basic modification not too drastically: as it is evident from the spy photos, the sedan will get a little more advanced kit, extended sills and a small spoiler. In addition, the test sample has 19-inch wheels and four S traditional versions of the exhaust system.
As it was previously announced, the Audi decided to abandon the 5.2-liter 10-cylinder in favor of the four-liter turbo V8 engine, which is also planned to be used on the new generation of Bentley Continental GT.
Note that now the British supercompartment is equipped only with six-liter 575-strong V12.
The new engine is expected to develop about 450 hp, which is about to exceed by 20 hp the previous-generation of Audi S6.
In addition, the sedan will get a traditional four-wheel drive and seven-speed transmission with double clutch.
By the way, for the RS6 version, which is expected to be launched later, the Ingolstad engineers have reserved a 550-hp engine with dual charging.
Audi S6 premiere is going to be held at the Frankfurt Motor Show and sales start is scheduled to early 2012.
