Chinese drivers prefer European cars
Chișinău / Moldova.ORG/ -- The Chinese car market is a tidbit that every major automaker wants to tear off from the world cake.
Most auto companies are betting on China, introducing new models and expanding production. And not in vain, as the Chinese drivers prefer the European cars to their own.
Over the past two years, the tastes of Chinese car buyers have shifted to the European models.
The local, as well as the Japanese cars are increasingly irrelevant.
According to research of the new car market in China, carried out by the JD Power analytic agency, 32% of respondents chose the European cars, while in 2009 there were 25% who preferred cars from Europe.
According to the Chinese buyers, the European cars have higher ratings on safety, as well as more oftenly upgraded engines - more powerful and effective.
In addition, the cars from Europe are oftenly mentioned in relatives or friends advise when choosing a new car.
27% chose cars from Japan, which is 5% less than in 2009.
And only 20% of respondents chose cars of local brands.
Two years ago, there were 26% of patriotic car buyers. The reason for this low interest in local vehicles is, according to respondents, due to the poor assembly quality.
The J.D. Power study, which the agency has conducted for the third year, estimates the preferences of potential buyers, who intend to buy a car within the next 12 months.
4979 respondents from 53 Chinese cities took part in the survey.
The agency also found out which models are highly prefered by the Chinese buyers.
So, in the compact class, the local BYD F0 and Chery QQ3 were leading. In the premium compact segment is the Chevrolet Sail (the Chinese version of the previous generation Chevrolet Aveo).
Volkswagen Polo and Chevrolet Cruze are leading in the midsize cars segment, in the respective premium area - BYD F6 and Honda Accord.
Chinese consumers most favourite luxury car is Audi A4L.
Volkswagen Tiguan is the leading crossover, and Buick GL8 - the prefered minivan.
