Ford announces pricing strategy for Sync

fordFord Motor Company confirmed the distribution and pricing strategy of the in-car communication and entertainment system which was developed jointly with Microsoft-Sync. The system will be included as standard equipment on high-series models from Ford and Mercury, on other models Sync will be optional, at $395.

Ford's group vice president of North America marketing, sales and service, Cisco Codina said that consumer reaction to Sync has been extremely positive since the system launched earlier this year. The positive reaction has convinced the company to make the system widely available across its range of Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models. The simplicity and capability of Sync have tremendous appeal and the affordability confirmed by Ford is certain to drive ever greater interest. Sync is a Ford-exclusive technology based on Microsoft auto software providing consumers with digital media players and Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones into their vehicle, and the possibility to operate the devices via voice commands or with the vehicle's steering wheel or radio controls.
