Opel is contemplating on the second generation of Ampera

Chișinău / Moldova.ORG/ -- The main General Motors electro-sedan comes in two guises - as Chevrolet Volt in the U.S. and Opel Ampera in Europe.

Its sales on the old continent will start only at the beginning of the next year, but Opel is already revealing plans to develop the second-generation of the electric vehicle.
The next Opel Ampera will become more accessible and differ even more due to the expressive design.

The brand’s head, Nick Riley, confirmed the information.

For example, in Britain, the first generation of the sedan, which is now available at order, is worth at least 28,995 pounds, considering the five thousand state subsidies.

The brand’s engineers report that only one set of batteries costs about seven thousand pounds.

However, while developing the next generation, the creators will focus on making the new model cheaper.
In particular, the improved technologies will enable the company to reduce the cost of batteries by half.

In addition, the increase and localization of production will contribute to the price lowering, as well as application of technologies developed for Ampera on other Opel models.

As example, the electric vehicle propulsion systems can be mentioned.
The second generation Ampera will get a more radical design, since, according to Riley, Opel artists will no longer have restrictions imposed by the need to look as the Chevrolet Volt.

By the new generation, which will be launched in 2015, the brand’s designers will be able to fully implement the company’s new style.
