Renault Magnum shifts dimensions in 2008
By launching a new version of the Renault Magnum in early 2008, Renault Trucks will add a further chapter to this legendary vehicle's success story. Featuring a sleeker, more powerful design, this new Renault Magnum is clearly dedicated to enhancing on-board comfort with an even roomier cab. Offering outstanding technical performance and a broad range of services, the new arrival further consolidates Renault Magnum's position as the acknowledged benchmark for comfort, design and efficiency.
The benchmark on-board comfort
Already a ground-breaker in 1991 when it offered the first totally flat cab floor, Renault Magnum is once again setting new standards with a completely redesigned cab interior.
These fresh innovations are the result of surveys that Renault Trucks carried out among drivers, asking them to define their wants and needs, and what a truck should provide to make their everyday life on board a real pleasure.

"Space counts most"
By raising the roof in the new cab by 20 cm, headroom now exceeds 2 m throughout the cab, drivers may now move around fully upright, hindrance has been reduced to a minimum by the further optimisation of the size of certain equipment. Even when there are two drivers, conditions never appear cramped.
As far as storage room is concerned, the Renault Magnum cab now offers up to twice as much as is usually available on a conventional long haul vehicle. For example, the front overhead unit, within easy reach of the driver when at the wheel, is three times the previous size! Furthermore, inspired by the aeronautics industry, Renault Trucks has also added a rear overhead unit with 95 L storage capacity. With all these storage solutions available, drivers are now able to leave on long-haul trips with everything they need and peace of mind.

"And especially comfort"
To make the living space more pleasant and welcoming, great attention has been paid to the finish, ensuring the cab interior can provide drivers with all the comforts of home:
- modular interior lighting designed to match each particular moment of the day and the driver's activities,
- a genuine, even thicker mattress with bagged springs (Classic version) for truly refreshing sleep
- a new range of radio equipment allowing users to fully benefit from the latest technology available (CD + Bluetooth, MP3, USB connection, according to version)
- the very best materials used as standard to meet long-distance drivers' demand for quality.
All these new features are carefully incorporated into the new interior colour schemes which make the Magnum style so distinctive - on one side the working area, with technical materials and colours borrowed from the world of motorsports, and on the other, a living area in more restful shades.
In short, Renault Magnum reflects all Renault Trucks' expertise dedicated to driving comfort via a number of innovations designed to simplify day-to-day operations - such as the Optidriver+ gearbox with its steering wheel mounted controls, or the touch control electrical window lift which allows concentration to remain focused on driving. This ensures safety is always the priority - whilst the driving pleasure is untouched.
Drivers invited to a special preview of this cab were able to appreciate its many advantages - by day and by night, the Renault Magnum sets new standards in terms of on-board comfort. Demonstrating once again how Renault Trucks keeps its promises.

The benchmark for design
Renault Trucks expresses its idea of design in the Renault Magnum: it not only plays a key role in establishing an identity and projecting a powerful image, it uses design to make the all of the truck more functional.
The inimitable Renault Magnum profile has been updated with exterior equipment combining appealing design, safety and ease of maintenance.
With details such as its chrome-finished accessories, LEDs, sunshade fitted as standard incorporating marker lights, windscreen access step, twin shade radiator grille and three part bumper, the new Renault Magnum stands out with its highly distinctive identity and unique personality.
With its imposing exterior combined with its welcoming interior, Renault Trucks has made the Renault Magnum the unchallenged benchmark for long-distance haulage design.
The benchmark for efficiency
Over and above its pleasing appearance, cost efficiency and carefully studied optimisation remain the Renault Magnum's core concerns.
The DXi13 engine available on the Renault Magnum since 2006 in 460 hp and 500 hp versions delivers punch and performance for high average journey speeds, superior to those offered by its predecessors (up to 4 kph faster according to use). The Optibrake, the best engine brake on the market, offers retardation power at the wheel of 332 kW, while the Optibrake+, available as an option, increases this to 381 kW.
Even better the Renault Magnum also allows hauliers to save up to 5% in fuel consumption when they combine it with the improvements offered by the Optifuel Solutions range of complementary products and services:
- Optifuel Technology, with the robotised Optidriver+ gearbox, highly appreciated by customers keen to control fuel consumption,
- Optifuel Infomax, allowing vehicle use and fuel consumption to be carefully monitored,
- Optifuel Training, economic driving training which makes a noticeable difference to hauliers' operating costs.
The other services developed for the entire Renault Trucks Long Distance range, such as Start & Drive maintenance contracts or Renault Trucks 24/24 - as well as the network of professionals dedicated to serving professionals - offer drivers and hauliers the peace of mind they need for confident, efficient driving.
A new range of original accessories designed to optimise on-board comfort, safety, personalisation and vehicle performance, further enhances the new Magnum range.
Renault Trucks has once again been able to surprise the long-distance haulage industry by setting new standards in comfort, design and efficiency, with its new Renault Magnum, scheduled for delivery to customers during the second half of 2008,. Reasserting the Renault Magnum's unchallenged position as the long haul market benchmark.
