Volvo participates in Swedish-Russian seminar for increased traffic safety
Volvo Trucks and Volvo Cars are participating today in a seminar on traffic safety organised by the Swedish Export Council in Moscow, Russia. Both Russian and Swedish Transport Ministers are attending the event. Sweden is the leader in traffic safety and has among the fewest traffic fatalities in the world.
Major Swedish actors are participating in the seminar by sharing their knowledge and experiences with their Russian colleagues, representing the Swedish Road Administration, the Swedish Road Traffic Inspectorate, the Chalmers University of Technology, the World Health Organization and the Brussels-based European Traffic Safety Council. In addition, Volvo, which has always had safety as one of its top priorities and has a long history of driving developments in this important field, is now supporting the Swedish government to help Russia improve the nation’s traffic safety.
The company introduced a number of safety systems for both trucks and cars under the Volvo brand name. Volvo Trucks’ deliveries on the Russian market have increased considerably in recent years and the company is also investing in a new assembly factory in Russia to be located in Kaluga and with sufficient capacity for about 10,000 trucks a year.
