Honda plans to develop hybrids feeling optimistic about sales Honda is optimistic about its global sales saying they will rise 6 percent this year to a record 3.76 million vehicles on booming demand in the U.S., Europe and Asia, the automaker's president said Wednesday.
The company also plans to invest aggressively in research for hybrids and other new technology in Japan, said Takeo Fukui, president of Japan's No. 2 automaker, the AP reports.

AvtoVAZ plans to produce some 1.3 million cars by 2012 AvtoVAZ plans to increase production from the present 771,600 cars a year to almost 1.3 million vehicles annually by 2012, a spokesman for Russia's largest carmaker said on Tuesday.
"The plant's development program envisages increasing the output of Lada cars to 1.275 million vehicles by 2012," the company said.
